Bear markets are very painful. I have lived through a few since entering this business in February 1984. What I have observed during bear markets is that they evoke action (based on reason) and reaction (based on emotion) that, in the long run, lead to the real mistakes that damage portfolios. Unfortunately (or fortunately) emotion and reason are human traits.
