As of this writing, most major stock market indices are off sharply for the year. The normally bubbly banter of the CNBC commentators has been replaced by hand wringing and reviews of the graphs of stocks that seem to be in a death spiral. CNBC’s coverage of sports and the weather seems to have lengthened. The finger pointing has begun in earnest.
